Theremin Workshop – Make Spooky Music
For adults and children ages 12 and up, with or without parents. Limited to 6 participants per workshop.
Learn about the Theremin, an instrument you play without touching it. For almost a hundred years, the Theremin has added melodic electronic sounds to orchestral pieces and has been used for spooky sounds in sci-fi movies. The theme for the original Star Trek TV series was done with the Theremin.
After the lesson, learn how to solder a mini-Theremin electronics project you get to keep. Make cool and spooky sounds. Impress (or annoy) your friends! Topics learned while building kits include soldering safety, basic electronics parts and their functions, and elementary DC circuitry. Students will need good vision and dexterity to handle hot soldering irons. General workshop tools, materials, and safety glasses will be provided. Price is per single child or adult individual, but parents may work with and/or help their child at no extra charge.
The min-Theremin kit is included free, part of the instructional class.
Workshop runs for 90 minutes, although you may stay later if your project needs the extra time.
